Production Notes
A Christmas episode with no snow?!? A Christmas episode released on Valentines day?!? Well, the delays and unfortunate weather didn't put a damper on our production. Though we didn't have snow for our 3rd annual Christmas special, we went ahead and filmed it anyway. The results show for themselves.
We began shooting this episode a week after New Years. The initial shoots were all indoors. We took care of the Hiroshima Lightning bridge shots and the Bland/Topper shuttlepod scene.
Weekend 2 was for the outdoor scenes. Everything was going along swimmingly until Dev Birdi popped out his bad knee! See outtakes during final credits. He turned pale, almost ghost like. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to finish the shoot. Well, Dev sucked it up and finished off the outdoor scenes. We all headed back to my place to wrap up shooting. We reassembled the Idomo for the last time and got the crash scenes down.
Ryan Kingsbury showed up and we were then able to shoot the Romulan scenes. The pre production began before episode 19 was even completed. Erik Kuras (our CGI artist) knew that I wanted to destroy our precious Idomo and we came up with a concept for destroying it. Who would have know it would be so ambitious?!?
The editing process took some time and here we are, episode 20 is upon us and all we can do is sit back, grab a beer and enjoy! Thanks for watching and be sure to head to the message boards to discuss this latest episode!
